GLaDOS Discord Bot

If you’ve ever felt that your Discord server is missing a sadistic and talkative AI supervisor, then look no further. Intended as an April fools joke for my personal server, this bot is based on the GLaDOS character from the videogame series Portal.

Her charming personality is powered by a simple Python script and OpenAI’s GPT-4 generative languange model. By mentioning her name in a message via @GLaDOS, the user’s message is fed to the Chat API, which then generates a response and sends it as a response to the corresponding Discord chat. A short description of GLaDOS personality is fed into the model beforehand as a system message to get the model to respond in character.

It’s really surprising how simple it is to create astonishing results with current generative AI models and I am excited to see what will be possible in the future.
